Box 04-022 TO JEFF [?] from Rev. Calvin McQuesten Nov 25 1951 To: Jeff [?] From: 508 South Federal Highway, Lake Worth, FloridaDear Jeff,1
I am sending you a copy of that MSS of the first six chapters of the book on which I am working, and would like to know how it strikes an old soldier like yourself.
You might let Wilfred and Lucille Morris see it. And then I wish you would pass it on to Callum Thompson in Dundas and ask him to return it to me.
This little city of ten thousand people is much what one expects from seeing pictures of Florida. But it is amazingly clean. It appears to have been all white sand naturally. And the soil for gardens has been brought in. They do not grow perennials or annuals. The gorgeous flowers one sees everywhere are all on shrubs which seem to be planted in little pockets of earth.
The white and light-colored stucco houses are spotlessly clean, without a trace of dinginess. And no dust seems to settle in the house.
There seem to be many varieties of palm trees and also quite a few banyan trees, an importation, of course, and none of them as large as in India.
I hope you are getting in some canoeing, from all accounts the weather seems to have been pretty cold.
Please give my very kinds regards to your wife. God bless you both!
Yours very cordially
Calvin McQuesten
