[Note at top:] Ruby says she feels better already!!

Box 04-066 TO MARY BAKER MCQUESTEN from her daughter Hilda [Tousie] McQuesten
May 3 1910
To: Mrs. Mary Baker McQuesten [Likely at Whitehern, Hamilton, Ontario]
From: Gravenhurst, Ontario

My darling Mother,

Here Ruby is at last, settled in her new house and delighted with her airy quarters. We were so disappointed that she did not get here yesterday but in the morning a patient was being taken to Toronto for an operation and by the time he was finished with, it had started to rain. It poured all afternoon and evening so perhaps it was just as well R. did not get over.

This morning all the horses in town were engaged for a funeral, however Mrs. Fourier came to the rescue and had a Chair rigged up like a soudan chair and poor old Mr. Graham and the son-in-law Harris carried Ruby over about one o'clock. It was a little hard for Mr. Graham I'm afraid, he is so interested in Ruby and such a nice old man, that he would do anything for her.

Ruby says to say she was over come with all her birthday remembrances & will write later, she sends much love. Her parasol delighted her artistic eye. I think she looks remarkably well, so much better than when I saw her in August. I shall endeavour to feed her up. At present all the patients and others! are suffering from the merry so nimble but I think some good arrowroot gruel will settle her 'lady ship'.

Dr. Parfit [Parfitt] sent some pretty daffodils over, I have not seen Mrs. Parfit yet, expect she is busy and the weather is bad.

How did your meetings come off hope you did not get too tired.

How is 'Oddy' [Edna] is she wearing awa' for her beloved sister? I'm glad she did not come up with me for she would have been pretty coolish. However to-day is lovely and bright and we hope that good weather has now set in.

Hope the family are not working too hard and that T. B.[Thomas] has put a curb on his appetite. With much love to all and hoping the family will try to take things easily.

From Touser [Hilda]
