Box 12-768 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN from Isabel MacCallum
Dec 3 1916
To: Rev. Calvin McQuesten 'Whitehern' Hamilton, Ontario
From: Buckingham, Quebec

Dear Mr. McQuesten,

Your most welcome letter received about a month ago. I hope you are quite rested and feeling much better. What nice times you must all have together. Miss Porteous just received a message this afternoon of Gordon's death--he was killed on the 18th November.

Mac & I went down to see she & Laura this afternoon, what sad homes this war is causing. To-day was Communion & they were out to church this morning. The message arrived in the afternoon. Miss Porteous was speaking of how at our last Communion, Gordon's name was mentioned, it is giving her such comfort at this trying time & this she owes to you in a great measure. I know she would appreciate a letter from you.

I do not know if you have heard of Mrs. Parker's death (our next door neighbour) she passed away about a month-ago, and about the only brightness around the house were your geraniums, they were blooming so freely. Kathleen Millar leaves to-morrow for Montreal to train for Nurse in the Royal Victoria Hospital, her Mother will miss her very much, because she has been at home quite a long time. It was nice of you to think of me Thanksgiving, yes I had a very lovely time meeting old friends & they were so good to me. I could hardly realize I have been away eighteen years, of course there were changes but they are bound to come. Mac came home after Thanksgiving, the children & I remained a week. Mac sends very kindest regards.

Your sincerely,

Isabel MacCallum

P.S: In the Westminster, "The trip to Gaspe," by-Macdonnel. That was a trip taken by Mrs. Cornett & her sister Mrs. Macdonnel & her little nephew. By the way our little Chinaman & his father are going home to China this month. -- I.M.
