Sir,
I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your fav. [favour] of the 31st inst. and note its contents, I have this morning in conformity with your wish endowed to [?] the mortgage I hold on property farmland by Mr Bick from J.A. Rickshaw, discharged, which the [??] over on his timing the amount due say 268.15.6 pounds currency.
I had a letter a short time since from a Mr. Wood stating that the sand lot had been purchased from Mr.Bick for a Baptist Church and that the Congregation to whom the lot belonged should pay up the Mortgage before the 1st Inst. these are matters in which I have no interest further than I consider it my duty to inform Mr.Wood that I have discharged the Mortgage at the request of another party, possibly for the same purpose if such is right.
