Box 15-020 THOMAS BAKER MCQUESTEN TO REV. B. KETCHEN
Feb 19 1945
To: Rev. B. Ketchen MacNab Street Presbyterian Church Hamilton, Ontario
From: Minister of Highways Toronto. Ontario

OFFICE OF MINISTER OF HIGHWAYS, ONTARIO

Toronto, February 19, 1943

The Reverend Beverley Ketchen, D.D.
MacNab Street Presbyterian Church,
Corner MacNab Street and Hunter Place,
Hamilton, Ontario

Dear Dr. Ketchen:

I have your lketter of recent date passing on to me Alex. Gow's request for a letter of recommendation. Probably this letter will do, as I have not his address, and you are at liberty to send this on to him if it suits its purpose.

I have known three generations of the Gows. His grandfather was a Minister in this Government, his father was a very intimate friend of mine and I have known many of his family. Young Gow is a fine lad and, in my judgment, will make a useful officer in the Navy. He has always shown diligence and good judgment in matters in which I have had to do with him and I believe his business record is good. He has also been well brought up. His moral character is of the best and I think he will show, if he is given a chance, the qualities of leadership and strength and courage which I am sure will be most called for in this position.

With kind personal regards,

Believe me

Faithfully yours

T.B.McQuesten [signature]

Minister of Highways, Municipal Affairs and Public Works 1

1 There are three letters here about Gow and dealing with this matter: Box 15-019, Box 15-020, Box 15-021. Box 15-021 contains a footnote with the biography of Peter Gow.
