W-MCP1-3a.001 TO ISAAC BALDWIN MCQUESTEN from friend John B. Young Dec 9 1864 To: Upper Canada College, Toronto, C.W. [Canada West] From: Main Wharf Station My Dear Isaac,
I suppose you will be rather surprised at receiving this scrap but the reason of it is that I believe I am going to be sent to Toronto this winter & I want to know if you know what the usual charge per week is worth at good Boarding Houses Where are you stopping, it is at the College or a Boarding House? Because if you are stopping at a Boarding House, I would like to stop at the same place if there was room for another Boarder. I guess we could manage between us to put in the time pretty well don't you think so? It has been most horribly cold here for the last two days nearly as cold as it was last new years, it has been the same with you I suppose, [Also?] Bill Hutch, Henry Watson are all in a flourishing condition I wish to be remembered. You have been I expect of the "Socials" that are being held at our church, the last one was held in "Fairgrieves" House on last Monday [Week?] to which Alex & I vamoosed we had quite nice time playing [Carpet?] Ball & cards we are going to the next one which is to be at "Nesbitt's" they live down [on?] Ferguson Avenue, (how are you long walk [sic]) [??] nothing more to tell at present & hoping to hear from you soon.
I remain
Yours a......
John B. Young
