March 11, 1905,
Dear Tim [Tom]:
I hope you will pardon my neglect in not writing you before. I have been so busy that I neglected writing however better late than never. I have finished putting in the Ice for the I. Co. I am into the lumber business for myself this Winter. I am very sorry that your Friend George Washington Ross was defeated he was badly snowed under. I did not get anything out of the Philadelphia business but expect to yet. I suppose you are busy with your studies.
I hope you will be back to see us this Season again.2 I expect to be back at Mohr's island again & would like to see your worship then. We had very deep snows this Winter over three feet on the level. The Russians are still on the run I see by the papers the Japs are the boys to fight. I had a letter from William [Manchusen?] it came while I was away. My wife & family are well & send kind regards to you & wish to thank you very much for the Christmas number of the Globe. I tell you there is [sic] pictures no end all over the house & the Toys for the kids were splendid, we had lots of fun over there. I will close by wishing you success--trusting to hear from you soon, I am yours sincerely,
Courtney Hutchinson
1 [W-MCP1-3a.028 IS NOTED ON MICROFILM AS "MISSING," likely dated 1905]. Microfilm Index states: "Mother to Tom, 1905-owe much to Ruby."
W-MCP1-3a.029, March 9, 1905 makes a similar statement about "owing much to Ruby."
W-MCP1-3a.027 April 22, 1905 also mentions money from Ruby.
W-MCP1-3a.028, dated March 11, 1905, is the original of a letter from Courtney Hutchinson to Thomas B. McQuesten. It is clearly marked "M28" which for digitization purposes would be transcibed as W-MCP1-3a.028. It was likely sent to Whitehern and was then either re-addressed to Tom or was enclosed with a letter from Mother to Tom. The original is transcribed here above.
2 Tom had worked as a lumberjack near Quyon, Quebec, and Courtney Hutchinson was his foreman, see W8166, W8160, W8164, W8177, W4977, W-MCP1-3b.055. It is not known if he was related to the Hamilton Hutchinsons who attended MacNab Church.
