Had no thought of writing Prof. H., did not see your letter to Mr. C. so do not know what you said. Cannot see why Prof. H. should be against you, unless the fact of President L. being for you. As to C.J. Falconbridge, I am sure your father & he knew each other very well, and you had better go and see him or did you wish me to write him. Think it would be much better for you to see him yourself, as I did not know him at all. It is a tiresome business.

That fire in Toronto will be the cause of a great deal of loss in endless ways. If they persist in raising insurance rates, it will raise mine too. You must post your letter to Cal. immediately, in order to catch the mail that leaves Macleod every Tuesday for Stand-Off, only one mail a week and it seems to take a week to reach Macleod, though it should only take five days. As his birth-day is on the Sunday, none of our letters can reach him for his birthday, it will be Tuesday after; the trouble is, if we miss it, it is a whole week before another. Will speak to Dr. Fletcher, hope he kept copy of former letter. The Synod meets here next week. With much love, dearie.
