W-MCP1-3a.058 TO THOMAS B. MCQUESTEN from his mother Mary Baker McQuesten
Dec 1 1904
To: Thomas McQuesten 22 Grosvenor St. Toronto, Ontario
From: 'Whitehern'

My dearest boy,

Here it is Dec. 1st and we expect Ruby three weeks from to-day, the time will just fly. Miss Fisher has just been in, she is looking better. What about your holidays? How long can you take? The Mission Band sale is over I am thankful to say and it was most successful too, our girls made about $17 in articles; the two bands realized $130, which is very good when one knows the few who work for it. Mr. Cunningham is going to stay at Knox College till he gets a call.

The weather is so cold and windy one dreads to go out. There is absolutely nothing to write about; Edna is much better and goes about as usual. Mrs. Mullin has gone off to Montreal. Archie never came as he announced. One would think there was something wrong with that boy, he acts like a man not all there.

To-day my B. of Montreal cheque came in, so I was able to pay off two notes, which I had been obliged to discount at the bank, then I got my McPhie net and was able to pay off balance of coal bill which had been $117, isn't that a lot for firing? And the trouble is we are not really warm. But still in the moderate weather we are all right and we have had a most merciful season. We are well off indeed in comparison with thousands. I hope you are getting on all right and keeping out of mischief. I am busy this week, and am now going out on business so you must excuse this short letter. With fondest love.

Your loving mother

M.B. McQuesten
