W-MCP2-3b.045 TO THOMAS B. MCQUESTEN, ESQ. from his brother [Rev.] Calvin McQuesten

My dear Tom,

This should reach you just about in time to wish you very many happy returns of the day which I do most heartily and hope you may enjoy very many more of them. The news of the results of your law exams was rather long in reaching me but I was mighty glad to see that you made the grade all right and got a good standing too. What happened to Kelly? I saw that Bill Grieg got there all right but could not find Kelly's name.

Am wondering whether you are taking in the Hespeler Old Boys Re-Union. A copy of the souvenir program reached me last week. It must be quite an enterprising little town. I wish I could be there myself.

Was sorry to hear that that windstorm finished the poor old cherry tree and am glad the big maple escaped. The Mater certainly seems to have made the most of her trip out West. She is a wonderful woman I don't know how she stood the many [? ] at all.

As for myself, I am poking along just as stupidly as ever. The people welcomed me back most dearly, but the charm of novelty is lacking this time. However I have got a pretty good Cayuse & guess I can manage to put in the time till Xmas. The first 6 weeks have certainly gone fast enough and I am feeling first rate but lazier than ever. Please remember me kindly to the Misses Oates and the old woman.

Drop me a line when you get time & let me know about Hespeler.

With best wishes for a happy birthday.

Your loving brother

Cal.
