Your fav' [favor] of 2 inst. is just rec'd [sic]. We wrote Messrs. Backus Seymour & Co. on the 30th the reason why the Iron has not been shipd [sic]. Before we will send the Iron by first Boat that goes to Hamilton it will have to be sent by Boats touching at the entrance into Ports & may be subjected to Entry before itz [sic] arrival at Hamilton, we regret very much that the delay in this businefs [sic] has taken place, we trust however that it will arrive in time, your future orders will be more promptly attended to should you make them.
