Jul 24 1849
To: Estimate Ruth Esther (Baldwin) McQuesten, Hamiton, [Ontario], Canada
From:

Dear Friend,

[The letter is illegible but the Microfilm Index states:]

Mary Johnson to Est 1849. Calvin1 almost a man "your son--I imagine he has improved considerably since I saw him last as he was quite small and not very healthy."

1 Calvin Brooks McQuesten (1837-1912 is Dr. Calvin McQuesten's son by his first marriage to Margarette Lerned. In 1849 he was 12 years of age. The writer appears to be unaware that the McQuestens had another son Isaac Baldwin (1847-1888). David (1849-1854), the youngest, was born in November 1849.
