W0143a EXCERPTS FROM MARY'S WILL: LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF MARY BAKER MCQUESTEN
Oct 10 1934
To:
From:

I ALSO DESIRE [sic] to mention with loving thankfulness my appreciation of my children's1 loyalty, unselfishness and self denial as evinced in their loving service to myself and to each other without which under the Divine Blessing the Homestead could not have been maintained.

I ALSO DESIRE [sic] to record my deep sense of gratitude to Mr. James Chisholm,2 who has ever been my kind and valued friend and wise counsellor, and whom I can never repay for all his thoughtful care and unwearying assistance in the management of my affairs, but can only commend him to the faithful regard and loving esteem of my sons and daughters.

1 "According to her will, Mrs. Mary Baker McQuesten's estate was just under $54,000." "All of her living children (Mary, Calvin, Hilda, Tom & Edna) received 1/5th residue of the estate or $10,746.70. In addition, Tom received $100 and pictures (pictures he once gave her). In addition, all the girls (Mary, Hilda & Edna) received 1/3rd share of jewelry & clothing (value of $33.33, $33.33 $33.34)" (Minnes 7, 3). For letters about Mary's concerns during an early preparation of her will in 1902, see W4544.

2 For James Chisholm, see W2520.
