Gentlemen
I am in receipt of yours of 2nd instant enclosing Cheque for $84.00 a deposit by George Tait towards the payment of [Municipal?] in accordance with my letter of 13 July. I will at now apply to the mortgagee for his Consent and a [at] hearing from him will write to you. I enclose my receipt for the amount left. Naming the terms upon which we receive this deposit, which is not to bear interest.
The amount sent is in trust of the 10% required by [?]. I have hence placed the whole amount to Mr. Tait's credit.
The amount mentioned in My letter of 13th July was the Amount [?] to redeem the Mortgage on 1st May 1865 when it matures & was in reply to your letter enquiring what it would take to pay off the mortgage on 1st May next. Upon this amount, instead of the Municipal, you have calculated 10%. It is not unlikely that the Mortgagee will be content to discharge the mortgage, in anticipation, by the payment of $832. Should Mr Tait so wish it we can refund the $ it received over and above
Yours truly,
