From: Hopkinton, New Hampshire, [U.S.A.]

Dear Friend,1

According to your request in Hannah's letter, I now devote a few moments in writing to you. I am now attending the Academy, and study Geography, Arithmatick [sic], and Grammar. I have been studying Philosophy, but Mother thought my health would not admit of my attending to so many studyes [sic] and I dropt [sic] it. We have a very pretty school, consisting of 25 young laides [sic]. I like it very much indeed. Miss Raymond boards here; she sends her love to you. I suppose you have heard that Miss Miner is marred [sic] to a Mr. Dexter. She is a keeping a boarding house, and does all her work herself. The small pox has lately broke out in Claremont where she lives. I must now close as it is late, and I have my Sunday lesson to get. Mother and Aunt send their love to you. Excuse my writing for I am in a hurry. Believe me yours,

Elisabeth
