W1209 TO MRS. ELIZABETH FULLER MCQUESTEN from her friend Mary I. F. Moore
Aug 15 1855
To: Elizabeth Fuller McQuesten, Hamilton, Ontario
From: Milford, [New Hampshire, U.S.A]

My dear Mrs. McQuesten,

Sister Gillis, John and the children were here yesterday. She brought me the letter from you, and altho' I had just written to you in answer to your last, I will write a word by way of apology and put it with my Husband's envelope For he feels that he must acknowledge the receipt of the money from Boston, that is tell your Husband that it is received, and all is right.

By way of excuse for not writing sooner before. The sudden sickness and death of Mr. Ellis seemed to blot out everything else for a time, out of our minds. If we hear nothing from you we, i.e. our Soc., will appropriate your benevolent donations, as I suggested in my letter. If you have any other wishes in regard to it please write immediately.

I think you must have had a pleasant time with Dr. Murray. I should like to see the author of the "[Pirwan?] letters". How pleasant it is for you to go so often to the great Water Fall. I think that such "great minds" have a tendency to enlarge the mind if not the heart--Hope we shall see you soon--Don't cheat us out of long visit--

Love to your Husband

Yours--Mary I. F. Moore

P.S. John Gillis is better but not very stout. I think he will not spend the winter so far north as this--M.
