W1375 TO DR. CALVIN BROOKS MCQUESTEN from Bessie Lataille Aug 18 1873 To: Dr. Calvin Brooks McQuesten, New York From: New York Always the same story
My dear Doctor,
Although it is true, it is unpleasant at best:
Today I was very early quite ready to go to your office, and just rain prevented me to do it. Yesterday I was all the day long with the hope that you should call; but as you know, it was a great mistake. On Saturday last I was pretty ill, on the morning and not able to go to see you; yet [Great?] to the central task during the afternoon in the purpose to meet you there. I can say that my trial was good for nothing. So I concluded that: life is not a beautiful dream, since our desires are all deceived.
Nevertheless, I will try to see you so tomorrow, perhaps, although I must go before 14th S. but if weather is better I should be there by 9 o'clock.
I remain yours truly
[Bessie Lataille]
