Your last letter was duly read--I have not written
earlier as I found that I should be unable to leave the city and there has been nothing of importance to communicate.
Have had quite a busy summer and think I have made it pay me for staying in town--We are now having and have had for the past ten days very hot weather, and it begins to pall on a fellow somewhat.
Think I may take a weeks vacation after [Fraser?]
returns which will be the end of this week, but where I may
go to I have'nt [sic] the least idea.
Dr. Ben died of Brights disease it seems. Had not been well for some months. Have never heard young Dr. Post's marriage & death spoken of by anyone. Only saw it in the paper. Whether it was a mistake or not I don't know.
How are you getting on? and when are you coming back to the city? Ever or never? People are returning very fast now and business is lively--By the way, my former patient Garvin of E. 58th St. died in New Hampshire in Aug. I hear
he had jaundice--"Hobnail" liver would better express it. Hope I shall get my bill sometime.
Write me soon--how you are and when you shall return and hoping that you have had a pleasant summer.
