[Letter is typewritten entirely in uppercase]

Dear Sir:--

I take pleasure in calling your attention to the enclosed circulars announcing the continuation of the Index Medicus.

I wish also to thank you for you subscription for 1885, received through Mr. Bowker, the former publisher.

In view of the fact that the Index Medicus has heretofore been published at a considerable pecuniary loss, and that it's permanent publication necessarily depends on the practical support of the medical profession, who chiefly recognize its great present and future value. I would ask all those interested in the promotion of this great work to aid the publisher in it execution, but remittance of subscriptions at their early convenience, and by using their influence in its behalf in the circle of their professional and public spirited friends.

Very respectfully yours

Geo. S. Davies
