Dear Doctor

I am very sorry indeed that I did not write more explicit directions and that you took so much trouble. I thought I wrote twenty third street ferry to Broadway, Brooklyn. There are two ferries at the foot of East twenty third, one to Greenpoint and one to Broadway, Brooklyn. I was at the ferry at 3:25 P.M. Tuesday afternoon and waited until four o'clock. Then decided you were not coming and continued my journey home. I left school at two yesterday afternoon to keep an engagement at the dentists but made an effort to get to the ferry between 3:30 & 4:00 thinking that perhaps you would come. I had to go out Tuesday evening, but waited until after nine o'clock. I am very sorry but it can not be helped now. I am considering whether I will not be obliged to go to Staten Island this afternoon but will certainly be home by Eight o'clock. I want to start for Good Ground, Long Island, tomorrow afternoon, but just now it looks impossible for me to be able to get off. If you are not able to come tonight, and I find that I shall not be able to start before Saturday morning, I will send you word early tomorrow morning. If we do not meet before I go, perhaps you would enjoy taking a little trip to Good Ground some time during the summer. We have a little house situated right on Shinnecok Bay and we have the perfection of sailing, towing, crabbing and bathing: both still water & surf. May & I expect to be alone with the children most of the time. Tom expects to come down one Sunday every week. I paid a visit to Dr. Pomeroy yesterday morning & it is necessary for me to go again Friday between 12 & 1. I liked him yesterday very much.
