Wilkes presents his compliments to the Rev. Thomas Baker, and would thank him to send by the bearer the articles enumerated in the accompanying list, which the bearer on receiving the articles will receipt and leave with Mr. Baker.1 Eagle's Nest Friday Morning 22nd Septr. 1848 Mr. Fr. F. Wilkes begs to return two Volumes for the loan of which Mr. Baker will please accept his thanks. 1 See also W2883 to W2889 for the list and other correspondence on this subject. At this time Wilkes, the widower of Rev. Baker's eldest daughter Harriett, was engaged to Harriett's younger sister Mary Anne against the wishes of her family. As a result, Rev.
