W3024 TO REV. THOMAS BAKER from Robert Smith Jul 23 1870 To: Rev. Thomas Baker From: Newmarket, OntarioRev. Thos. Baker
My Dear Sir,
Yours of the 19th [?] was duly received, and I delayed replying until I could ascertain if I could arrange to pay off you Mortgage, but I regret to say that I cannot do so myself, but Leo who has a little money will purchase the mortgage at the price named by you $221 and will pay you one half at once and the balance in about a month--On hearing from you she will recruit the one half and when she pays the balance you can then assign the mortgage to her.
With best respects to Mrs. and Miss Baker and yourself in which Mrs. Smith joins--Remain,
Very truly yours
Robert Smith
