My Beloved Brother,

Your [??] him letter and birthday present came [?] to him on the 9th agreable to the date you [indicated?] in your letter on the following Monday. Yet a person to take the P.O. to the office [again??] by one gave her the [name??] of yourself and your kindnefs she was told that the mail had not come in and that the money could not be paid until the arrival of the [rest??] mail went again on the 11th today was told it was not payable in that name, from what I can understand it is my name that is wrong I suppose the person who took it to the Post Office made a mistake.

I thank you very much for your kind present and glad to know you are so well and most seriously wish you many more happy returns of your Birthday. I feel deeply grieved for Mrs Baker's sufferings but I trust it will soon be restored and her health improved by the discharge from the [sore?]

I will let Mrs. Gorham know as soon as I can write to her but I have such bad eyes that I cannot see to write this has been a difficult task for sure.
