James Alfred Baker the son of Thomas and Sarah Baker was born Thursday morning, 5 o'clock, June 31, 1825, and publickly [sic] baptised by the Rev. J. Griffin at King St. Chapel, Portsea, August 14, 1825. ¹

¹ Rev. Thomas Baker recorded the births and baptisms of his eight children by Sarah Hampson: W4213, W4214, W4215, W4216, W4217, W4218, W4218a, W4219. Rev. Baker also had a ninth child by his second wife, Mary-Jane McIlwaine: Mary Jane Baker [McQuesten] b. October 10, 1849, in Brantford, Ont.
