MISS RUBY MCQUESTEN
WHITEHERN

1 A note on the estimated dating of this correspondence: The card is undated so we have chosen March 17, 1900 because Mary Baldwin McQuesten's birthday is March 20, 1874. Also, beginning in 1899, Ruby was teaching at the Ottawa Ladies' College in Ottawa, so we have selected the mailing place as Ottawa Ladies' College in Ottawa. Ruby may have sent her birthday greetings on her calling card in lieu of an actual birthday card. The Whitehern calling card is embossed with Ruby's name. It may have been included with a letter.

This is one of the first items in the Calendar from Ruby, possibly/likely from the Ottawa Ladies' College, where she began teaching in 1899 (Minnes 1).
