Dear Mrs. McQuesten,

It has been quite as great a pleasure to me finally to extract the amount owed from the well-meaning but equally as sanguine and procrastinating Kimbel--as it comes along here to you to receive it.1 Some of his "salary," "out of which, in a very few months he was certain to realize large sums of dollars to pay his note" were quite as funny in his difference between expectation and realization as Col. Sellens describes as Eye Wash. However all's well that ends well--some of the expectations turn up trumps, and as he has always promised he would--he came in and paid up.

Mrs. Ormiston and the children are very well. Some, the baby and all have an equestrian fever at present and ride daily. My little nine year old daughter is becoming noticed for her skill in riding.2

I trust all your relatives are well. With much cordial feelings in which I know Mrs. Ormiston would wish to you, were she here.

[?] yours,

T. S. Ormiston
