W4765 TO [REV.] CALVIN MCQUESTEN from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten Jan 30 1903 To: Calvin McQuesten Montreal, Quebec From: 'Whitehern' My dear Cal
I saw by the Wednesday Herald, that four shares of Bk. of Montreal stock had been sold in Montreal for 276, and it occurred to me that Montreal must be a better market for that stock than here so I spoke to-day to Mr. Chisholm and he most decidedly agreed with me. So if Mr. Skeoch could advise you as to most trustworthy and wisest broker, you had better sell the two shares and I will send you whatever is necessary afterwards. I suppose there is no doubt that we will have to take up the new shares before June so that whatever is the best time to sell you had better do so and I will deposit it here in Ham. Prov. till such time as it is required. I do not know and I suppose nobody can tell if it will rise. It was quoted as 280 asked but none sold, so I supposed if I got anywhere between 275 and 280 I would be doing well.
Mr. Fairgrieve is letting me have coal at $8.00 a ton, for which I am very thankful. Others are paying $10. Well, I must hurry to catch the post. Hope you are surviving the constant providing of copy. With much love.
Your mother
M.B.McQuesten
