Had a letter from Harry this morning that Reggie was a little better, his temperature was lower and he was not suffering much. Before posty arrived however Hilda had gone by 9:55 train, but Harry had not said she was not to go. So I trust the change will be pleasant for her and that poor Reggie will not need the operation. Mrs. James had a most interesting letter from Janie written on her birthday from Japan. I have been reading all the Christmas books and enjoyed them much "Wanted a Chaperone" is only too short but a happy little story like the "Blue Falcon." The allegories are beautifully written. "The Source" is most striking and heart-searching so full of suggestion. Keep the book for your own library. Now I am at "Maids & Matrons." We had lent "Donavan Paska" to Hurneur M. when he was ill and have just got back. He has just come back from Johns Hopkins, where he has been picking new ideas. Mr. Barnard, the father of the blind young man is dead. It is such a sad blow for him and the sisters, the father was a fine man and devoted to the poor son. The mother died some time ago in the Asylum (I think). With much love.
