By accounts from Mother I'm afraid you are becoming most horribly fat. How do you do it? I'm afraid you must be eating the grass grown under your feet! You and Edna will be the fat ones of the family I'm afraid for even skinny me only weighs 134 lbs.

I left the Gartshores about three weeks ago, I'm sure they must be pining for me! It is lovely up here. Bessy has such a nice home here and a good maid I have absolutely nothing to do.

We go out paddling in the Saugeen River and soon becoming quite an experienced canoeist. I can steer quite beautifully. My first experiment of steering was rather ludicrous but I can manage alright now. We went for a picnic one day and Mr Richards cought some lovely speckled trout, he fried them in a pan on a bon-fire and I assure you they were most delicious.

We go driving quite often there are a great many pretty places around.

I shall be quite glad when the time comes to go home, one gets rather tired of doing nothing.

Next week I intended going to Mrs Fletcher at Thames Road but the weather has been so [??] hot and as it takes all day to get there, I have postponed my visit. Going on freight trains to stopping for hours at small stations [next couple lines illegible] takes all day to go from here to Exeter stopping on a freight train with long waits at several stations. I really could pack my trunk etc. It would only have been for a weeks visit anyway and I did not think it was worth the money when I am so comfortable here, absolutely nothing to do etc.

Mrs Gilbert and Bessy were so disappointed when I told them I was going as they had quite planned that I was to stay a month, for they said I had the two old Bucks since coming here.
