My dearest Cal

This has been such a busy day that I nearly forgot to write you. First thing we had to see Tom off, then I had to go over to St. Paul's School-room to see to the sending off of the goods to the North-West. Then after dinner had to go down town with Mary to see about a coat for her and when I came home read in the Times. The death of Mrs. Landers and the funeral services to be held this evening as the internment to be at Guelph to-morrow. So of course I felt I must go, it was a very nice service Mr. Morton and Mr. Unsworth speaking so nicely about her. You know she has been ill more or less for a long time, and ten weeks ago Emma the old servant took her to her own home to attend to her, for dropsy had set in. When I came home from Muskoka went to see her and she was so comfortable there and happy I was quite relieved. The only regret is that poor Brownlow is now totally alone. Alfred Thomson came up from Montreal, he and his wife have always done all in their power for Mrs. Sanders. He is such a fine man and very good looking. We were all so glad to hear from Edna's letter to-day that you had had a little outing, it does a world of good, especially when it does not cost much. Poor Brownlow was asking for you. If you felt like writing, you could address him care of Miss Emma Goulding, 331 Herkimer St. The weather turned suddenly cool on Saturday before that it was most trying. I am going to be quite busy with meetings next month. On Tuesday I go to Chippawa and Thursday to Gault and on the 16th to Listowel. To-morrow I am going to Toronto to consult Dr. Capon about one of my teeth. We can go by Turbinia for 25cts. return and Macassa 10cts.

Our dinning room looks quite luxuriant, the carpet was very shabby and Hilda & Tom went looking for a crumb cloth and found a "Moravian" rug, which looks like a fine turkish one for $9.50 and it is wonderfully pretty. Well Calvin dear, I am glad to hear you are comfortable and well treated. Tom has told us about the books you wanted and when I get back from T. will pack them up and send them.
