W5673 TO [REV.] CALVIN MCQUESTEN from his sister Ruby
Oct 2 1906
To: [Rev.] Calvin McQuesten Macleod, Alberta
From: Ottawa Ladies' College

My dear old Cal,

You are a sinner but then I was too--but I've written one letter more'n you and it gives me an exalted feelin' and I rise above you and write you another line. I should be feeling chirpy to-day for I've taught for only two dear delightful little half hours to-day--one in the morning & one in the afternoon, a most lady-like & genteel time-table. I told you didn't I that my work was easier.--that I nearly turned a hand-spring on seeing my time-table. Well I only teach--on the average 3 hrs a day--and some days more & some less & this is my beautiful darling day when I love everybody & they all love me, especially my cherubs that I don't have to teach.

Mama sent me your letter to Ted [Edna] and I was glad to hear of your spree--I'm afraid you'd lose your job if they heard your meeting at Lethbridge called that [sic]--but it was a nice change and it would do you good.

I think everybody will feel better now the cooler weather is setting in. It has really been a long trying summer for any who couldn't get away from the heat. I think it must have been awfully hot and trying where you are though you've said very little about it. I expect you didn't want to make us feel unhappy. You're a good old fellow Cal and I'll be glad when it's Xmas.

By the way the two Miss Mowats from Montreal the daughters of the minister are visiting here & when they heard I was a sister of yours they immediately came up to enquire after you. They wanted to know if you weren't coming back to Montreal, they said they all missed you down there--you were a great favorite. I have to repeat things even if you do say you haven't a quarter.
Wed Morning

Well my dear I have a spare so am going to run out & get some stamps & post this. Please your honor, write me a note someday soon.

With much love,

Ruby
