W5780 TO [REV.] CALVIN MCQUESTEN from his sister, (Margaret)Edna

My dear Calvie

This afternoon I went to the Thistle Rink for the first time this season. So I don't feel like working to night and thought I'd write you instead.

To-day the new Westminster came so I was reading several chapters of the "Doctor." It is certainly very exciting and fine too.

Last night Lorna Culham was in for tea. She said Olive has been taking Art and Singing at the Technical Inst. and Conservatory in Toronto. The Pittsburg Orchestra is coming here next week. Lorna is very anxious to hear the lady Soprano as she was in Oakville last summer.

On Monday Mama and I went to call at the Procters. Nellie and Irwin were up at the Roller Rink. Mr. P. was ill with Bronchitis and so Nellie had taken upon herself to phone for Irwin to come up. So Irwin of course pronounced his father worse so as he could stay here onger probably.

You must surely be having snow shoeing by now with all this cold weather.

Yesterday I tried my hand at scones and they were quite nice.

I might write oftener only usually such discouraging remarks are made on my handwriting by the family here.

May Clark told me that she had seen Francis Dumoulin who had a letter from her sister who is where Emily [Colquhoun] is, and she said Emily had accepted the position of night superintendent in St. John's hospital. Ernest Bruce is in title set with Mrs. (Dr.) Woolverton to play in Ottawa for the Governor General's trophy.

Yours lovingly

Edna
