My dearest Cal

You will wonder where I am. The beginning of last week I had an invitation from Mrs. James to visit them here for two weeks, and I was so delighted at the idea of a change that I accepted the invitation at once. So Edna and I arrived here last Thursday evening between 8 & 9 having left Hamilton by 3 o'clock train. The trip up on C.N.R. was delightful, a beautiful evening and scenery so pretty. Mrs. James' cottage is on an island 5 minutes now from the station. It is a beautiful spot on the top of the rocks surrounded by oak and birch trees. I have a comfortable room, the door opens on the verandah and I am enjoying it very much. Of course Sparrow Lake is nothing to Muskoka Lakes or Lake of Bays, but it is a great treat after the city. One gets so tired of the noise and the smell of car smoke. Edna is very happy with Nellie and is able to row. Yesterday they went over to a service held at one of the houses. There is only one other house on this island where Mr. and Mrs. Currely live, they are agreeable old people and he is very fond of berry picking. Lillie and Nellie go with him, they have to go a long distance but they get quantities of blueberries. The weather was very warm and close to-day but a fine breeze has come up.

I hope your congregations are keeping up, I was thinking when the harvesting came on, the men would be tired, and tempted to stay at home. I really have no news at all, have not heard from home and cannot delay posting this letter, the mail only goes every morning early. Hope the weather has been cool, it would be so hot for your shack and on long drives. With much love, Cal dear.
