W6456 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten
Jun 14 1909 Monday
To: Calvin McQuesten Glenhurst Saskatchewan
From: 'Whitehern'

Dearest Calvin,

Yours of June 5th reached us this morning, so as you liked the soup tablets, I have posted you some more to-day and I also wrote the Presbyterian and ordered it for you from April, as I think it well for you to see the church paper and you can pass it on.

I'm enclosing you the Report on Evangelism, which I thought you ought to see, especially the second paragraph, for I think the reason there is so little effective preaching is the absence of Evangelism. One foolish young minister a Mr. Rochester actually got up and proposed the leaving out of that paragraph, but he was cried down and Charles Gordon spoke very warmly and truly. You know, we have not enough of it in our own pulpit, too much official statements, too little of the Bible and too little personal application.

I hope you will make no mistake between mushrooms and toadstools, and that you will not underfeed yourself because of the trouble of cooking meat. When you are alone it is a temptation, and very difficult out there to get a good bit of steak and no such thing as a chip and with no wood fire no such thing as boiling. Tom has not returned yet and not a line from him. Edna & Ruby both better. With Much love from all.

Your loving Mother

M.B. McQuesten
