W6912 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN, B.A. from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten Aug 19 1915 To: Calvin McQuesten East Northfield Massachusetts From: 'The Manse' Buckingham QuebecMy dear Calvin,
Your letter reached me this morning and am glad to hear you found a friend in Dr. Tufts. Do not think you need hesitate to stay with him when you go out for meals. I do not know if my letter would be sent on to you, telling that Tom wired us to have Hilda join him at Montreal and take the Saguenay trip. I was delighted at the idea and packed her off on Monday morning. He had started on the Saturday and coming out of the office Mr. C. suggested to him to take H. so Tom, wired from Toronto for us to reply to steamer Kingston at Prescott. So he waited over at Montreal till the Monday, so as to meet her. I heard from him from the Windsor, so the telegram had reached him alright and he would meet her.
We are getting on very nicely. Edna is sleeping so well, that she feels so well that she is much encouraged, enjoys the piano so much and talks of taking some lessons. Must inquire who is the best, would like some one in the church perhaps Miss Sicard, she came to call yesterday and Mrs. Warwick came, very nice indeed. Were asked up to the Albert Maclaren's, but I had previously invited little Mrs. Crawford and her mother-in-law in for 5 o'clock tea. Mrs. Alex Maclaren came back from camp with a cold on her lungs, it had rained all the time, clothes never dry, said "she was just punished for her foolishness in going." I was phoning thanks for some more vegetables, that miserable gardener never brought one all the time she was away, she asked me about it and she said several other things were forgotten(?). Well, I must close now. With much love from all.
Your loving mother
M.B. McQuesten
