W7277 TO MR. THOMPSON from Gilbert Parker
Jan 10 1899
To: Mr. Thompson 41 Granville St., Toronto, Ontario
From: Geneva, Switzerland

Dear Mr. Thompson,

I think it would be wise to announce in your advertisements (and to inform separate [ ?] in the newspapers, to the same effect) that over "50,000 copies of The Battle of the Strong1 have been sold in England & America in less than three months."

Already over 30,000 have been sold in United States alone.

Yours faithfully

Gilbert Parker2

7 Park Place

St. James, London SW

1 The Battle of the Strong: A Romance of Two Kingdoms was written by Gilbert Parker (1862-1932) published in 1898.

2 Although this letter is addressed to Mr. Thompson, it likely came into Calvin’s possession from Mr. Thompson at Copp Clark Publishers, Toronto, where he was employed.
