c/o The Montreal Herald W7436 TO [REV.] CALVIN MCQUESTEN from Edward C. Austin Sep 7 1903 To: Calvin McQuesten Montreal, Que. From: 93 Manchester St., Toronto, OntarioDear Ookiskiwahikas yipiwakow,
I don't know whether you will remember this name or not but if you write it about three times you won't forget it. I find on reference to the Biography of distinguished Indians that the above is your official title as one of the Braves of the Moodweyaushkah tribe. The next monthly Pow-wow of the braves will be held at the Rucas wigwam on Saturday, September 26 & they desire to receive messages from absent Braves to put in their pipes & smoke (if dense enough ) a message in prose or poetry or both would be acceptable & much appreciated by the braves. I shall be glad to hear from you & know how you are getting on.
You may be interested to know I am expecting to commence a course of study this Jan. in preparation for missionary work. I have had this in mind for a long time but the way has not been clear till recently.
We expect to meet to say farewell to my wapoo (Dr. Waters) who is leaving for India next month. He was married recently to a Miss Alexander graduate of the Sick Children's Hospital.
Trusting you are having success in your work & thanking you in anticipation of the message.
Yours sincerely
Edward C. Austin (Kitootakum)
