Will you please let me know whether you were ever paid by the Home Mission Board the amount you allowed for as coming from Rathwell through Mr. Macdanian sp?]. If you were, should I turn the amount over to Mr. Tait?

I had a settlement with our friend D.L. yesterday re threshing bill and I had the nerve to mention the tener that I sent him. He explained that he had looked to Mr. Munro, his partner on that ditch contract, to forward you $15. and gave him the $10. which I had collected, and always thought that you had rec'd it OK. He even blamed me for not mentioning the matter at once. This I intended doing, but didn't get an opportunity for some time after I heard from you, and then I thought I might as well leave it until he threshed for me, which was a bout a month ago. He assured me that you are the last man he should want to allow anything like this to occur with, and I am not prepared to believe that he may not be sincere and that Munro may not have been the one to blame. I agreed with him to write you at once to see where the 10 belongs (he says he will make it 15) and to explain as he had explained.¹

Things at Macleod are much the same as of old except that there has been a deal of building done since you were here. No one has died, I think and no one been married, among our mutual friends, and the things which have been are pretty much those which are.
