W8198 TO [REV.] CALVIN MCQUESTEN from his brother Thomas McQuesten Jun 15 1907 To: Calvin McQuesten [Glenhurst, Saskatchewan] From: Oakville, OntarioMy dear Cal,
You did not succeed in fooling them after all. A few days before the examination or rather the results were out you were sent a communication from James Brebner asking your opinion. I went over to see him and from there to see old Turnbull and finally got at the bottom of it. It seems you had to take New Testament Greek, New Testament Introduction, and I think Religious Ethics. For then you wrote on New Testament Exegesis & systematic Theology. Old Turnbull admitted that the exegesis combined both New Testament Greek & New Testament Introduction but he did not think that the one subject should count for two and I supposed he so reported to Mr. Brebner. Then as to the systematic theology which I think you wrote on, Brebner conferred with Ballantyne who said that this did not at all square with the subject of Religious Ethics which is provided to be written so that you may be down for two supplementals. However I saw Brebner about four times and he finally intimated that you might confer with him and if you wrote on Astronomy that would be sufficient. He also stated that there should be no difficulty about your obtaining an M.A. next Spring.1 That is about all. Am moving on Monday to 41 Isabella for the summer.
Yours etc.
T.B. McQuesten
