Dear Cal,

Mr. Chisholm has just come back from a trip to the West which he undertook for the purpose of seeing that his crops were properly looked after. I asked him if he had a chance to look over yours¹ but it turned out that he would have had to stay three days more in Saskatoon in order to make connections as I understand the train only went down into that country three days a week so that he was unable to do so.

I was talking the matter over with him and we wondered if it would be advisable for you to have his cousin who is out there, look over your crops and check up the output. I did not know whether the man you had was absolutely reliable and thought I would let you know that Chisholm's cousin is available if you think it is worth the expense. He is doing the same work for Chisholm and is receiving from him $2. a day and his travelling expenses. I suppose what he could do would be to go down there now and find out when threshing would take place and then go down again. You know better than I do whether it would be advisable to send him but I thought that I had better let you know that such a man is available.
