W8708 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN from his brother, Thomas Baker McQuesten
May 16 1913
To: Rev. Calvin McQuesten Bracebridge, Ontario
From:

My dear Cal,

Bob Baird dropped into the office yesterday on a visit from Zealandia. I told him you had sold your land1 and he asked who the purchaser was. I think you said his name was Walker and I told him so. I fear we have fallen among thieves. He said he knew a W. K. Walker who was a thoroughly disreputable and unscrupulous scoundrel and named several instances.

I also asked him about the Glendinnings and he said none of them were any good except one, Bob, who he thought was allright [sic]. Of course you couldn't be expected to have any knowledge of the financial standing of these people but of course Baird has for he deals with them. I do not see just how you can lose very much except this season's crops if Walker gets the money for them and gets away with it. You might let me look at your agreements and let me know exactly the arrangement you made and the letters when the cheque was not paid. Then we can have a talk over the matter when you come down in June.

There is no need to worry but I would like to look into the whole matter now that we know what sort of people we are dealing with. Baird can pull us out of the hole in any event.

Your affte bro.

T. B. McQuesten
