My dearest Calvin,

I was very glad to know from your letter that you had received mine on New Year's Day and that you were resting the day you wrote and preparing to take still further rest. Yesterday afternoon Colonel and Mrs. McCrae came in, on their way to visit Tom in Philadelphia. The first thing Mrs. M. said was "she had been hearing all sorts of nice things about Calvin from a nurse who had been in Bracebridge, how much he was beloved by his people, but that he was working himself to death, just killing himself." Well, we are praying you may be guided in all you say on Sabbath and that the Elections may turn out alright, and then you must get away, just as soon as possible to have as many days as possible. I wish you could just take some good stories with you and stop thinking about everything, get some one to preach for you and get ten days rest. If you remember a year ago you had two months off on account of illness but this year you have been working steadily since beginning of August and there are seven or eight months till the holidays so I am quite sure you need more than two or three days; it takes months to pick up, if you get too far down, as you know.

I am feeling better now that Christmas confusion is over and your letter relieved my mind. In some ways I am not sure Algonquin Park would be the place, it would be better for you to be where you could see something like Atlantic City. Must close to catch mail. With much love.
