W8824 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN, B.A. from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten
Apr 1 1912 [Spring (date listed not accurate)] 1912 Monday Morning
To: Calvin McQuesten 'The Manse' Bracebridge Ontario
From: 'Whitehern'

Dearest Calvin,

By this time Hilda will have left you to yourself once more. I am sure you would quite enjoy [settling?] all the [things?] I could quite imagine it all, you and she gave me such good descriptions of it all. It would be most exciting. Yesterday was a lovely day. I am wondering if H. drove out with you to [Monck?], but it was pretty warm. The garden is so lovely now. I cannot describe it, the row of tulips by the hedge are a constant delight such lovely colours and [running?] along like that are so much prettier than the solid bed, am very tired of those beds. We seem to have every shade in that row.

These keys Gentle had sent down in the bureau and Mary gave them to the packer, who carried them off in his pocket and did not return them till Saturday night. Mary says one fitted one door of the side-board, I am hoping Gentle's key fitted the other. The cartoons are good are they not? Wasn't that a good one of the three circus rings? H. said "Manse is splendiferous and charming." Thought you'd like library carpet, it is well we missed the other one. Must close, with much love.

Your mother

M.B. McQuesten
