W8827 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN from his sister, Edna
May 8 1912
To: Bracebridge, Ontario
From: Whitehern, Hamilton, Ontario

My dear Cal,

Thank you so much for going to the trouble of sending me the arbutus. I had not seen any since I was in Ottawa. They were so fresh when they reached me.

I've just been writing a letter to Miss McFeggan. Mrs. Bates died last week. I've been wondering if poor old Miss McFeggan will go to a Home.

We are much excited over the news that Phyllis Glassco and Judge Jelf's son were married in Brantford on Saturday. Hilda heard it from Maddie Mackay last night.

We had Janie James to speak at the W.F.M.S. yesterday. She told us so many things we had never heard before and shewed us the calling cards and letters they use in China. The former are large pieces of bright pink paper with the name on.

Mrs. Weir and [Merne?] with the children are going out West. They are going to have a family re-union at Banff where Norman has a house. Mrs. Weir expects to be away a year so is storing her furniture, at least enough for a flat, and selling the rest.

I will be very glad to get away from the banging trains. One notices them so much more when double windows are off.

Last week we went out for wild flowers last Tuesday and brought home a lot of hepatica roots. So there is quite a plantation of them beside the hedge. It is such a long time since we went for them. It was quite a treat although I realized I was too stout for climbing hills.

Annie Woods asked me up, they are at the Mills' new house on Aberdeen Avenue whilst the Mills are away.

So must close as it is a quarter to four and I'm not dressed.

Your affec. sister

Edna
