My Dear Calvin,

I can assure you it is a great comfort to me to feel that you are thoroughly comfortable in your home, for we are so luxurious here, that it troubled us all to think of you not being the same. And I think it is money well expended, for it is very important that your physical condition should be kept up.

This week I have been taking in various things. First at Stanley Mills "Katherine Hale" gave an address on "China and Linen" which was most interesting, illustrating it by showing the various kinds of china from Stanley Mills stock. She is a very interesting speaker and some of the ladies know her, she has travelled a good deal and is a Mrs. Garvin.

Then yesterday we went to see a photo play called "Cabiria" said to be the most wonderful spectacular display ever shown. It certainly was marvellous; it was in the time of Hannibal and Scipio and the siege of Carthage. First came scenes in Roman palaces, and earthquake and eruption of Vesuvius, you saw the ashes falling and the beautiful columns in the houses breaking to pieces whilst the people were flying for their lives, fires blazing. Hannibal coming over the Alps. Then the Siege of Carthage, but it is impossible for me to describe it, but it was magnificent, these moving pictures are marvellous, the Eastern Scenery large rows of camels. Archimedes too and the burning ships of Rome. Altogether my head was nearly finished, but would not have missed it. It might come to Ottawa.

It is windy dull November day. As we have had a little snow and just are all looking for Indian Summer. It was very friendly of Mr. J. to send you apples, you will be well stocked they look so well. You must do as you like. Tom takes his apples in the evening, does not approve of morning fruit. Must close now with love from all and kind regards to Miss R.
