Dear Calvin,

Your letter with the very acceptable enclosure reached me safely, and grateful thanks are yours. I received five dollars, a pair of gloves, some gumdrops, flowers, a little silver turtle which contains a tape measure; while as for gums you never saw such a display!!! Five different kinds, large and small. By Sunday night I was "gumey" fairly fed up to overflowing. Hilda has not returned from Toronto, but judging by her letters is going it.

This afternoon I went to hear a Canon Gould who had been for some years canon of St. George's Cathedral at Jerusalem, a most entertaining and interesting speaker. He dealt particularly with Turkey and the Balkan States, and their part in the present war.

Marian Glassco has not been out for two Sundays so think she must be ill, must try and get there to-morrow. Poor Mrs. Jackson has pleurisy, she works altogether too hard, has over forty pupils. Am enclosing a snapshot of Mamma taken during the last big snowstorm. I took several pretty pictures of the house at the same time and will send you some when I get some more printed. Mrs. Mullin is much better now. For some time she has been troubled with what Willie calls a variegated (varicose) leg and has told several people besides ourselves about his mother's complaints. We simply screamed when he said "variegated."

Rev. Harper Grey preached for us last night and has improved very much. Mr. Ketchen has been away for nearly two weeks visiting his father who is said to be at his last. This is at least the fifth time that the old gentleman is reported to be going off.

We took a number of Geographical Magazines to the old Blacks who seem to enjoy it immensely.

The friends at "Amisfield" are as usual.² Your manse sounds most attractive in fact the "Dispensation" speaks of coming down in May, but don't build your hopes too high.
