W9169 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN, B.A. from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten Jan 31 1916 Monday To: Calvin McQuesten Buckingham, Quebec From: 'Whitehern' Hamilton Dearest Calvin,
Received your telegram about 4:30 this afternoon, and got Miss Smith on the phone at six o'clock. She said, the position seemed to her ideal, but she couldn't make up her mind as to going so far from all her friends. Her sister in Paris, with whom she always lived was not very well, and had wanted her to go home before Christmas. So she asked to have a day or two to consider. I offered to pay her fare down and will write her and see if at any rate she would go till June. Just now in the middle, it is so trying to have you going out for your meals. We are all so disappointed about Miss R. It seems as if you were fated. Will let you know as soon as I can. Could the Ottawa friends think of any one or Mr. McCallum? Well, we must just trust that some thing will turn up. With much love.
Your affectionate mother
M.B. McQuesten
